Soho: "Hot Music (Nirobi Edit)" by robertluis
PRESS BLURB
A1. SOHO / HOT MUSIC (NIROBI EDIT)
This stone-cold classic tune, loved by the Jazz, Hip Hop and House DJs and dancers alike, is given a new rework. The Edit features the original sample from "Skain's Domain" by Wynton Marsalis as the intro and outro; the rap verses from EPMD, KOs and Missy Elliot (who all sampled Soho); and of course the original Soho track, with the heavy drums you just cannot sit still to. This has been played twice on BBC Radio1 by Gilles Peterson, who Tweeted to all his followers when he got the edit:
"thank you @robertluis for all your 'made for me' DJ edits - latest one featuring Soho and Wynton Marsalis is a monster"
The track has also received huge support from the handful of DJ’s on the upfront promo including Dimitri from Paris, which has resulted in constant requests for Nirobi to get this Edit out on vinyl.
A2 KICK ‘AL’ ANCHUM / FARTHER UP THE ROAD (NIROBI EDIT) One for the more soulful dancefloors, this is a flawless new catchy version of the timeless song.
AA1 ST TROPEZ / HOLD ON TO LOVE (NIROBI EDIT) The original track is of course used by Jack Splash on the Cee Lo classic “I Want You”. Re-Edited to repeat the break a few more times for added dancefloor boogie, this is already gaining major support from Rich Medina, Onur Engin, Lefto and Dom Servini.
AA2 PAUL McCARTNEY / CHECK MY MACHINE (NIROBI EDIT) This is one of those tunes that Robert Luis always gets asked about when DJing out, most enquiries consisting of “when are you releasing this Edit on vinyl?!”. This Re-Edit has had spins from Mr Scruff, Quantic, and Rob Da Bank has played it twice on BBC Radio 1.
