Jimmy Flamante - Hip Beats Vol. 1
14th Nov 2011 by Snaf
The ever impressive Jus Like Music have another freebie for your hard drive - this time from South America.

Jimmy Flamante is a "laptop musician", but whether this means he can play anything more than Ableton or not I don't know, and pretty much don't care. This is a fine collection of modern instrumental hiphop beats, showcasing some exciting sounds.
It perhaps starts with the strongest track Time, pitching some Asian sounding string picking against space synths and dubstep beats. Hip Beat-01 meanwhile is more classic hip-hop, all samples and bass drums. The compilations running theme is "reunit[ing] various styles within the same genre" - to this end, you can hear certain common threads running through each track, carrying you from track to the next, but by no means are any two tracks alike.

PRESS RELEASE
Juan Medina, aka Jimmy Flamante, is a laptop musician and music producer from Caracas, Venezuela.
Hip Beats Vol. 01 is his new EP. It's a body of work that reunites various styles within the same genre. Hip-hop beats that go from post-dubstep to much more classical techniques, in which there are only samples and drum hits used. Then finishing as a sort of hybrid between Wu-Tang style beats, basslines and melodies composed with synthesizers, mutant cuts and textures.
